Discover your "prime time" with this simple exercise: track your hourly energy levels, plot them on a chart, and identify your peak periods. By connecting the dots, you'll see when your energy is highest-allowing you to schedule your most challenging tasks during these optimal times for maximum productivity.

  1. Choose a typical day to graph your energy level. Be prepared to spend a few minutes each hour evaluating your energy level and recording it on the chart.
  2. Above each hour of your day, place a checkbox in the box that best represents your level of energy for that hour.
  3. At the end of the day, check the overall connect dots.
  4. Examine your peaks and valleys of energy as represented on the graph. Note your high-energy periods.
    Try this exercise for several days in a row or on days with varied activities to better understand your energy patterns.
